When you think of hot dogs, do you think of those gross, tasteless red things that have been sitting in hot water? Well, these will banish those memories forever and you will never go back once you’ve tried these beautifully seasoned, slightly crisped hot dogs.

Combine them with a platter of your favourite toppings for a fun, family friendly meal that is sure to please everyone. Yes, everyone. I said it.

  1. Heat your BBQ flat plate or frying pan over medium heat.
  2. You don’t want your heat to be too high or the outside will overcook.
  3. Spray lightly with olive oil and add the hot dogs.
  4. Spray again and roll around to lightly coat the dogs with oil.
  5. Sprinkle the onion powder over the hot dogs and keep turning them so that they get an even coating and cook all over.
  6. Cook until they are at your preferred level of “doneness”, I personally like them to be browned and slightly crisp on the outside.
  7. Split your hot dog buns in half and toast the cut side of each bun.
  8. Serve the hot dogs and buns on a platter, along with your favourite selection of toppings.

Note: You can cut slashes along the hot dogs to create extra surface for the seasonings to stick to, as well as edges to turn crispy.
